Middle Range Pond - Poland, Maine
Our Maine lake house is located in Poland - a stone's throw from Maine's Sebago Lakes region - on Middle Range Pond. A short two hour drive from the Boston-area, Middle Range Pond is home to so many water activities including paddle boating, kayaking, fishing, swimming and more! We love that Middle Range Pond is a smaller, quiet lake that does not allow Jet Skis.
The closest supermarket is Hannaford, located about 6 miles away in the town of Mechanic Falls, Maine. If you're driving from the south, the closest supermarket is Hannaford in Gray, a few miles away from Exit 63 (from 95N) and right on the way to Birch Point. There is also a Walmart located 13 miles up 26N in Oxford, Maine.
When you're not enjoying everything that 'lake life' has to offer, there are many other Maine attractions nearby!
Poland Spring Resort - The oldest resort golf course in America offers breathtaking views of the White Mountains.
Arther Fenn Park at Poland Spring Resort - Driving range, disc golf and a mini golf course located about a mile from Birch Point!
Range Pond State Park - Recreation area offering a public sandy beach with lifeguards, kayaking, fishing, playground, hiking and more.
Poland Spring Preservation Park - The original Spring and Bottling houses at Poland Spring is free and open to the public. The Bottling House includes science displays, bottling memorabilia and a virtual tour of today's bottling plant. At The Spring House, you can see the actual spring!
Freeport Shopping - Over 100 shops and outlets, including the L.L. Bean Flagship Store. Freeport is only about a 45 minute drive from our Maine lake house.
Oxford Casino - After a relaxing day on the lake, try your luck at one of 850+ slot machines or one of their 26 different table games. The Oxford Casino is located about 9 miles north of our lake house.
Shaker Village - The only active Shaker community in the world. If it's raining on Middle Range, take a short drive to New Gloucester and learn how the Shakers live, work and worship.
Berry Picking - There are a number of spots within 25 minutes of our home to pick your own Maine blueberries, strawberries and raspberries: Goss Berry Farm, Chipman's and Gillespie Farms. Berry picking is seasonal, so we recommend that you call the farm in advance for that day's picking conditions.
Horseback Riding - Only 45 minutes from Birch Point, spend the afternoon riding the trails or take a horse back riding lesson at Deepwood Farm.
Maine Wildlife Park - Learn about moose, wild cats of Maine and all sorts of other Maine wildlife!
Sunday River - About an hour drive from Birch Point, there are summer and winter activities for the entire family. Whether it's the Adventure Park or Ziplining in the summer or skiing any of their 135 trails in the winter, there is something for every age and skill level at Sunday River.
Cyndi's Dockside - Kayak, bike, boat or drive about a mile to Cyndi's for an amazing lobster roll, sweet potato fries and many other tasty menu items. Cyndi's rents fishing boats, canoes and additional kayaks. Cyndi's has a boat launch ($20) and gasoline for boats.
